Centre hosts Tae

OVER 225 competitors par-
ticipated in the World
Traditional TaeKwonDo
Union (WTTU) first annual
Regional championship
meet held on Saturday at
Capilano College.

' The tournament was hosted by
the North Shore Tae Kwon Do
centre,’ and North Shore com-
‘petitors took home 83 trophies.

Martia! artists came from the
Lower Mainland, Washington and
Oregon. The meet was a huge
success and promises to be one of
the WYTU’s best-run events for
the Pacific Northwest region.

The tournament began with an
exciting display of board breaking
by eight of the younger club
members. This was followed by a
realistic sett’ defence scenario put
on by the tournament hosts,
third-degree. black belt Darren
Clarke ‘and second-degree black
belt Haliie Lecker.
~The tournament allows for
competition according to age and

belt rank in the following
categories: forms; one step sparr-
ing; fight contact sparring; and
board breaking.
