THERE’S NO shortage of fairy- tale gowns suitable for the blushing bride. But what about the woman who’s walking down the aisle, second time around? By Layne Christensen Fashion Editor The second-time bride -~ or older bride, for that matter — is probably not going to choose a traditional white dress with train and a floor- length veil. What she is likely to choose is an ouifit she can wear again, after the wedding day, according to North Vancouver designer Hilda Fassas. Fassas specializes in custom bridal and formal wear. She csti- mates that 20% of ker bridal business comes from second-time brides. These women are requesting two- piece outfits that are “straight and tailored” and: simple floor-length gowns, that can be reworn for evening wear. One popular look is a suit of wool or polyester crepe. The fitted jacket with pearl-encrusted collar, cuffs and pockets is worn with a bias-cut floor- length skirt. Another client requested a straight gown of gold and white lace that could be reworn to a Christmas party. Other second-time brides are Vancouver designer Anna Centurione says many. brides are buying their outfits off the rack at her West Hastings boutique.
