8- Wednesday, August 3 ‘MAILBC , 1994 - North Shore News Park pet problem Dear Editor: TPwas much impressed by the recent letter from Peter Fischer of West Vancouver about the problems he encountered in Lynn Canyon Park with dog owners who would not or could not control their ani- mals, Believe me, the same situation often occurs ia Ambleside Park with precisely the same type of persons being involved. I certainly have had personal experience when, with my Springer spaniel, 1 was approached by another dog owner who said, “Oh don't worry, he is only playing.” The dog in question was merely Irying to bite my dog's car off! l cannot believe that the palice have the time to check Gp in these various parks at this time of year when so many dogs are being exer cised and it is prebably impossible to obtam the offending dog owner's name and/or telephone number, address, ete, However, the fact that you have printed Peter Fischer's letter may possibly be a spur to offending dog owners who must know only too well that their pets are troublesome to others, John S. Fawell West Vancouver It’s time to help Rwanda Dear Editor: Every day we sit and cower at the glimpses of horror and tragedy going on in Rwanda. We ask our- selves, why isn’t there anything more that can be done to help? When ironically, it was only two weeks ago that every day on at least four differeat television stations, people were consumed in the “extremely important” O.J. Simpson case. I’m sure if they showed ever one hour a day of the growing Rwanda nightmare, on four channels for one week, people might realize that they can have an effect. Simply by donating any amount of money at your local Red Cross campaign for Rwanda would be helping. Maybe then we could all feel just a bit more humane, and not just sit and’wonder.
