LYNN CANYON PARK has a new wheelchair-accessible picnic shelter thanks to the Lynn Valley
Lions Club. Members donated over 450 volunteer hours to complete the project to commemorate

NVD Heritage Committee sponsors walk

A FREE heritage walk will take
place in Lynn Valley on Sunday,
June 9, conducted by Roy Pallant
on behalf of the District of North
Vancouver Heritage Committee.
Pallant, president of the North
Shore Historical Society, will meet
wainers at 1:30 p.m. sharp at the
Walter Draycott Memorial at the
junction of Lynn Valley Road and

Mountain Highway.

Entitled ‘‘The Streets of
Shaketown,”’ the walk will tour
the heritage houses of what used
to be called Shaketown, visit the
site of the first schoothouse, see
the routes of the nine miles of
log-transporting flumes, and recall
the men and women pioneers who
first settled in Lynn Valley.

The walk, which will take three
hours and cover 3.5 km, will be
conducted rain or shine. Free

will be supplied.
