The school was started 15 years ago and hss grown from two classes with 36 students, to 120 - students in eight classes, starting with Kindergarten and ending with Grade 12 German. In. May, 16 studenis obtained university credit for Grade if German. Classtooms are rented from the school board, and finan- cial assistance and books are ob- tained through the German Con- sulate and the Federal Govern- ment. Naomi McPherson, new Chair- woman of NSWC, announced that the centre has recently received funding from the Provincia! Women’s Secretariat to sponsor four Job Seekers Network groups for mature women aged between 45 and 60 years. She expressed concern, however, that their Secretary of State opera- tional funding has been reduced by 45 per cent under the current fed- eral budget. The meeting was followed by a luncheon wth guest speaker Leila Paul, CBC news anchor who has filed a Canadian Human Rights claim against the network on the basis of age discrimination.
