32 - Friday, December 160. 1988 - North Shore News THE VOICE OF NORTH AND WEST VANCOUVER WEDNESDAY + FRIDAY Nissan unveils the Infiniti line: a different series of luxury cars PROTOTYPES OF an _ entirely new family of luxury cars have been unveiled by Nissan Motor Corporation in the U.S. They bear the brand name Infiniti. In conceiving them, designers set out to develop an entirely new series of vehicles which Nissan Canada spokesman Max Wickens describes as ‘‘distinctly different from European fuxury cars like Mercedes-Benz, BMW. and Jaguar." Infiniti cars will be sold and ser- viced only by chosen dealers, and then only by specially trained per- sonnel, {i awarding Enfiniti franchises, Nissan says it will give preference to dealers with a track-record of excellence in all areas of customer satisfaction. “Owners will find they have in- vested in far more than a fine car,"’ says Wickens, ‘‘because they’! also enjoy a unique new car ownership experience — one in which dealer staff will pamper car and customer alike.”’ Initially, three Infiniti models will be offered: A high-perfor- mance five-seat sedan, a two-door five-seat sperts coupe and a con- vertible version of the coupe. A four-door, four-seat sports sedan will be added later. The Infiniti range makes i's world showroom debut in the fall of 1989 in 70 major market dealer- ships across the ULS.
