The fall season of the North
Vancouver Division of
Recreational Touch Footbali
kicked off at Balmoral Field
on Sunday.

Three new teams have join-
ed the eight-team league; each
opened with a win.

The Hastings Express

defeated the Twist Tops 14-0.
Best offensive player of the
game was Bill Burrow; best
defensive player was Hastings
Nedish Sundar.

Big Bird Sounders, re--
entering the league after a two-
year absence, struggled to a
14-0 win over the

Wallbangers. Both teams
played loosely on offense with
the Waltbangers coming up
empty on two stalled drivers.

In the third game, the Bur-
naby Raiders defeated stub-
born Deep Cove Dolphins
21-6.

Tod Hobbs and Randy

Ryke were named most
valuable players from the
Raiders while Tim Ferris and
Cas Bennett were picked for
the Dolphins.

Of the estublished teams on-
ly Fort Knox Gold were vic-
torious, surprising last
season’s undefeated team, the
North Shore Raiders 15-7.

NORTH SHORE Midget
Argos lost their season
opener Sunday at Norse-
man Park, dropping a 27-7
decision to provincial
champions, Renfrew
Trojans.

Argo halfback Tim Yeo
carried 13 times for 83
yards accounting for Argo
touchdown. Quarterback
Chris Tilley was impressive

completing eight of 16 at-
tempts for 125 yards. Scott
Findlay and Jay
McGeachan stood out on
defense for the North
Shore team. :

The Argos next game is
at North Delta on Sunday.
Their next home game is
September 22 at Norseman
field (23rd and Lonsdale)
at noca.
