April 30th is the deadline
for students in grades 9, 10,
11 and 12 to enter the
Greater Vancouver
Regional District's (GVRD)
annual schools essay con-
test.

The contest is open to
Students in .hese grades in all
schools within the GVRD.
Entnes should be a max-
imum of 2,000 words,
typewritten (double-spaced)
using one side of an 8'4 inch
by 11 inch plain paper. They
should mclude the student's
name, address, telephone
number, name of school
and, where possible, the
supervising teacher. Entries
are judged on content,
research, general  ap-
pearance and -use_ of
language.

4) Take an aspect of urban

— that you feel should be
drawn to the attention of
regional decision makers
and write an essay on it.

In a number of schools the
essay is a class project.

First prize is $300, second
$200 and third $100. In addi-
tion, 10 entries will be
awarded memberships to the
Vancouver Public Aquarium
or the UBC Museum of An-
thropology.
