tect, and will include con-
struction of a 40,000 sq. ft.
building on the current site
of the old city library and
former church chapel on the
cast side of the property.

But Chris Johnson, rep-
resenting the North Shore
News, whose commercial
property the apartment
building will be across the
alley from, asked cuuncil if
the designation of 75 under-
ground parking stil!s for res-
idents and visitors was ade-
quate.

He also expressed the

concern of new residents
complaining to council
about noise from the unload-
ing and loading of trucks for
newspaper and flyers at the
back loading dock of the
News.

Councilor Barb Perrault
asked Johnson if it was fea-
sibly possible for the News
to move its Cistribution cen-
tre to another location so as
hot to inconvenience new
tenants.

Johnson said it could be
done but was “a very expen-
sive” option for the newspa-
