if so, Capilano College has an
answer: Communications 150
(Basic Communications), which
will be held Tuesday evenings star-
ting Sept. 15.

This one-semester course focuses
on English basics — clear spelling,
good grammar, punctuation and
clear writing. Students also gain
experience in public speaking.

Bev Reid, longtime Capilano in-
structor, will instruct CMNS 150.
“It's lively and exciting,’’ she says.
“People find out they can be bet-
ter writers and speakers than they
ever imagined, and we all enjoy
learning from one another.”

CMNS 150 is a required course
for many of the college’s career
programs and students who are
thinking about enrolling in such
programs often take Communica-
tions as a way of ‘‘getting their
feet wet.”’

Reid points out that the de-
mands of a career program are
easier to handle when students
already have CMNS 150 and have
improved their writing skills.

The class will meet Tuesday
evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Registration for new students will
