SEYCOVE REZONING

Marina plans ang
Deep Cove residents

A DEEP Cove marina operator has come under fire from a
group of area residents who are angry that he may succeed
in having North Vancouver District waive a public hearing

over a rezoning application.

But North Vancouver District
Mayor Murray Dykeman said Fri-
day that the marina operator has
strong neighborhood support for
his proposal to rezone part of his
land.

Dykeman said Kyong Kim,
president of Seycove Marina Lid.,
located at 2890 Panorama Dr.,
wants to rezone part of his 17-
acre property to build eight large
houses.

The property is currently zoned
for parks, recreation and other
uses. :

“The request to forgo the
public hearing was based on the
assumption they had support of
the area residents. They felt all of
the issues have been -addressed,”’
said Dykeman.. .

But Trevor Carolan, who lives
on Panorama Drive, said over 200
area residents have signed a. peti-
tion opposing. the tertevelopment
scheme and the waiving of the
public hearing. .

Carolan said that Kim's -pro-

posal calls for blasting through a
nearby hillside to build a road to

the proposed residential develop. |

band did not want to discuss the
issde now because he is still having
discussions with district staff.

The issue was to have been
discussed at Monday night’s
council meeting but has been
deferred untii a later date.

later approved by Council: '

THAT development of the basketball court, walkways, seating areas, planting beds and lighting on the east side
of Mosquito Creek Park, as per the construction drawings prepared and approved March 15, 1993 by the Park
Planner, be continued; and that within the parameters outlined above, Council further instruct the Parks Branch
to meet wiih residents to seek creative solutions which may alleviate the concerns expressed by the residents.
