VLAs just complainers

A couple things about the
Translink Lew:

Quite apart
comic aspect. of North
Vancouver City Council
being Ieetured about matters
of process by Jeremy Daiton
(a man who has thrice been
disciplined by his own caucus
for his complete lack of
understanding of what con-
stitutes conflict of interest
— but who has admittedly
received high marks for pen-
manship), | would urge any-
body who thinks that any-
thing untoward was done to
have the courage to hit the
courts.

There they will find that
evervthing council has done
in this regard is compliant
with law and cules of order.

OF course, the fact that
such high level, complainers
as Messrs. Dalton and
Nebbeling have not yet gone
to court simply reveals the
face that they already know
they are wrong but haven’
got the courage to admit it.

Speaking of courage, it
was something that was
entirely lacking: in Mr.
Dalton’s last. submission to
city council.

He made it plain he
deplored the levy, but he
embarrassed himself and the.
B.C. Liberals by baldly
admitting that. he and his
party had-no substantive sug-
gestion for dealing with tran-

tly devoid of substance in the
art of government.

Unlike Mr. Dalton, I did
not get inte politics only to
whine about how badly my
city is being treated by other
levels of government.

sit plan that one of the Levy's
biggest: detractors, Surrey
Mayor Doug MacCallum,
describes as “excellent.”

But given that senior lev-
els of government have com-
pletely abandoned — their
funding responsibilities on
this one, it is going to be the
municipalities (as in so many
areas) Who will have to have
the spine to make such a plan
happen,

1 only wish that Dalton
and Nebbeling would work
to play a constructive role in
this matter, rather than using
it as an excuse, in the run-up
toa provincial election, from
craven and self-serving poli-
ticking.
