Just like any other family member, dogs’ safety and where- abouts és important. Last week our four-month-old Puppy went missing from our Tuse the term “missing” loosely, because the evidence leads us to believe that someone came into our yard, released Lizzie from her chain, and took her with them. This is not a pedigreed dog worth several hundred dollars, but a “mutt” with no monetary value to anyone else but us. What has surprised us most is the number of stories we have heard from others who also believe they have had a dog stolen “from their yard. (Two people have told me of losing a pet, and four have told me of suspecting a stolen dog.) ‘When we told the SPCA personnel that we suspected our puppy was stolen, they did not seem the least bit surprised. T-wonder just how common an occurrence this is? There are many.dogs and cats out there looking and waiting _ for someone to adopt them and give them a good home. The SPCA i is filled with pets with no homes. It distresses me to know that with ail the animals looking for ~: ahome, that someone could come into our yard and take our dog ; from her loving home. This puppy had a loving and happy home with another dog : for companionship and to “reach her the ropes.” She also knew _ another pup y who visited daily for play sessions. : We saved this little dog's life when we found her. We are led to believe that someone decided they didn’t want her any longer - and left the ei cight-week-old puppy in the bush to fend for herself. - >, When we spotted Lizzic, she was running down a logging road: -alonc, a-lon, ng way from any campsite or settlement. We stopped o our vehicle and she ran to my husband and snuggled : She was at that moment the happiest dog in the world. We felt ‘” it was truly destiny for this little dog to find us. We now find it so hard to believe that she may not be of our family any more. So, to whomever has Lizzie, a four-month-old female shep- herd- -cross,' we dearly want her back. But if you will not retuin her, remember’ that Lizzie loves - ‘Buy ing camping. hey gies ne ane of love and attention, ad has once : experienced ne best of homes. To all other pet owners, we remind you to take suitable and maybe some excessive measures, to ensure your beloved pet can- roperty without you knowing it. 22: Wewould for Lizzie. and who have called with possible leads to her where- abouts, Just kaowing others were Kéeping an eye out for her made us —_ _ feel alitee bit better. -.
