and loss of teeth.” John Dryden’s dreary view of time
is thankfully not shared by nearly three-quarters of
us. When we tested the waters, we found that opti-
mism runs deep on the North Shore. Citing business
growth, family milestones and a general faith in some-
thing better, most people believe this new year, 2iready
a month old, will be even better than 1996. Of course,
none of us can predict the future, but don’t underesti-
mate the power of positive thinking. If we start the year with a collective opti-
mism, good thoughts, good deeds and a good year indeed are sure to follow.
