TWENTY one North Shore youths
will be heading to Victoria tomor-
row to receive Duke of Edinburgh's
Silver Awards.

The youths — inelude Feisal
Mohamedali, Collingwood student Sarah
Greenwood and Sentinel student Martha
Garriock.

Also receiving awards are members
of the Ismaili Youth Group H, including
Nilum Andani, Noor Damji, Sophie
Dhanani, Nadia Hemani, Jamil Jaffer,
Reshma Kara, Serena Kassam, Natasha
Ladha, Faizah Mitha, Sheila Mohamed,
Ally Noormohamed, Navida Nuraney,

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is an
international challenge to youths aged I4
© 25 to participate in four areas of activ-
ity: volunteer service, expeditions. skills
and fitness. Bronze certificates are
awarded to youths aged !4 and older; sil-
ver to 15 and older, and gold to 16 and
older.

In April, six North Van youths were

among 75 Lower Mainland residents to
teceive Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's
Award Certificates of Achievement, pre-
sented at the Ismailia Jamatkhana and
Centre in Burnaby, They are Discovery
Ranger Ashley Fleischer, Kirsten Dixon,
Erica Krafeazyk. Noshin Lalji-Samji and
Analise Saely of the 3rd Grouse
Pathfinders, and Christine Yanciw of the
Sth Grouse Pathfinders.

Gold awards were last presented to
B.C. recipients by Prince Philip during a
visit to Vancouver in August '94,
