Driver jailed

A 28-YEAR-OLD Burnaby man was recently jailed for five
months in connection with a charge of driving while pro-
hibited in North Vancouver City.

Daniel Gilbert Bernard pleaded guilty to a charge stem-
ming from a March 23, 1995, incident.

North Vaicouver provincial court Judge Doug Moss
prohibited Bernard from driving for two years.

The jail sentence was recommended to be served
through the electronic monitoring program. Bernard was
sentenced on Dec. 4.

Robbed again

A SEYLYNN-AREA woman still reeling after a break-in at
her home on Christmas Day was hit again last Friday by a
thief who broke in through a window.

Leanne Marshall lost wrapped Christmas presents, a
TV, two VCRs, CDs, cameras and other items after her
home was ransacked on Dec. 25. Less than three weeks
later, a thief managed to steal some videos before a siren
alarm went off in the home. Marshall plans to move. -

Police say that a woman, age
65, and her son, 37, were walking
in the park located in the 200-block
of West Esplanade when they heard
footsteps behind them at about 8
p.m,

The pair were knocked to the
ground, held, struck and robbed at
knife point, according to police.

The woman was hospitalized.

The robbers, one age 17 and
two 1[6-year-olds, made off with
cash, a wallet and credit cards.
Police say one victim was forced to
give a PIN number. The trio con-
tinued on the park's walkway
