MICROWAVE OVENS need no
longer be perceived by seniors as
new-fangled gadgets.

Two courses in the fuli use of
microwave ovens for cooking are
being offered by the West Van-
couver Seniors Activity Centre .

Taught by Audrey Best, the
courses will be held on Mondays,
April 3 and April 10, for begin-
ners, and April 24 and May I for
those with some experience. The
two-hour classes begin at 9:30 a.m.

Demonstrations at Level 1 in-

_ clude making a cheese omelette
and cheese sauce, hot sandwiches,
roast chicken and a vegetable plat-
ter.

Level 2 includes bran muffins,
chicken stir-fry, company rice,
‘vegetables and cheesecake bars.

structor for this clinic, has over 12
years of weight training and
bodybuilding experience and has
lectured extensively on the benefits
of weight training.

Keeler will combine health and

exercise technique discussions with
hands-on weight room workouts.

The next clinic begins Tuesday,
April 4 at 7 p.m. Thursday even-
ings are optional for practice time
on technique.

THE BRECK Academy opened its
doors to the local arts and business
community in a grand opening
celebration on March 11.

Peter Breck, who runs the
school with his wife Diane, greeted
a crowd of well-wishers, which in-
cluded North Vancouver City
mayor Jack Loucks.

The school originally onened

three years ago on Alberni, Street
in Vancouver, but a growing stu-
dent body forced Breck to move
the school to larger premises.

Now located at 233 West Ist in
North Vancouver, -the Breck
Academy continues to offer dance
and acting lessons to aspiring ac-
tors. .
