24 - Friday, Qctober 31, 1986 - North Shore News Stir added From page 23 (double income no kids) and most other acronymed sectors of the public. Though a trifle generic for the more adventurous diner, P.J.‘s Allstar Cafe food is prepared with fresh and wholesome ingredients and is aimed directly at the mid- range of the public bread-basket. Non-burger buffs can load up on the two dozen Allstar ap- petizers, which run from salads ($2 to $5) to Nachos and chicken wings and fingers ($4 to $7). A sampled plate of Apricot Di- jon Wings ($3.45), which combin- ed the gentle fragrance of apricots and the gentle bite of Dijon mustard, was a pleasant variation on ubiquitous teriyaki. For the midday appetite, P.J.'s has a new line of vegetable stir fries ($5 to $7) that present selec- tions of quick fried vegetables such as zucchini, broccoli, carrots and cauliflower alone or with chicken or shrimps or both, all served on a light bed of steamed chinese noo- dles. A sampled Chicken Saute pro- . vided ample chunks of chicken breast and assorted vegetables on a good bedding of noodles cooked in a mild soya-teriyaki sauce. . For those going through ham- burger withdrawal, P.J.’s has five beef-free burgers. I tried a Chicken Cordon Blue ($5.95) to round out my matching culinary poultry ensemble. A breast of chicken stuffed to the size of a five-pin bowling ball with sliced ham and Swiss Cheese, the rotund beast was a meal in itself. P.J.’s also has four light beef hamburgers ($3.95) for appetites not up to devouring hamburgers the size of spare tires. P.J.’s Allstar Cafe remains a sure bet for gourmet burger en- thusiasts, but the restaurant serves much more: food for all ages that is not overly challenging, but pro- vides full dollar value.
