The con- vert was missed, and the score stayed at 8-6, the teams then settled into a defensive Struggle with the Browns stopping the Spartans twice inside the 20 yd. line, then with 4 minutes remaining in the game and the Spartans threatening on the 15. yd. line, defensive back Sipho Riopel picked off quarter- back Cam Chalmers pass and ege men tops Rinaldi scored a second goal for Cap. Unfortunately, Malaspina’s team also scored 2 goals for a tie game. Sunday found the Cap College team playing Royal Roads in Victoria where they dominated the game for a 7-1 final score against the naval college. Two goals each were scoredf by Dave Singh and Danyan Wild. Jim Gardnew, Oliver Rinaldi, Ken Thomp- son also scored for Cap. The local team is now in first place in the Totem Con- ference with a one point edge over Malaspina. This weekend the men play Cariboo College of Kelowna Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Capilano College. Sunday they'll play a second home game against Okanagan Col- lege of Kelowna at 12:00 p.m. Molsons heads off Labatts Molsons used a _ solid defense and persevereance on offence to pull a victory away from their rivals from Labatts in Coaches Soccer League action Sunday. Labatts opened = scoring when Mike Colwell capitahiz- ed on a rare defensive lapse by Molsons, but Rick Wat- son rephed for the winners to make the score 1 1 at halt ume. Kelly Wirth converted a penalty-kick into a 2-1 second-half lead for Molsons and veteran lan Irvine added an insurance marker to make the final score Molsons 3, Labatts 1. In other action, Totem Color defended well despite playing short-handed, and only a second-half goal by James Arnison from a goal mouth scramble salvaged a 1-1 draw for Northshore Nissan.
