IT TOOK until Week Nine
of the Coaches Soccer
League schedule, but Ray
Johnson Plumbing finally
came out of semi-retirement
to score their first two goals
and their first win of the
season.

RJ started fast as they
caught North Shore Nissan
slumbering and Jack Neilsen
was left all alone in front to
knock home a low cross
from left winger Jerry Lees.

Nissan’s John Rice lobbed
a shot over a charging RJ
goalie only to see it bounce
off the cross-bar, but it was

the Plumbers who scored -

again before half-time when
right-winger Muntzi Minni
got loose in the penalty area
and his low shot bounced in-
to the net off the far post.

Nissan controlled almost
all the play in the second
half, but RJ’s goal-keeper
Karel Groeneveld was
brilliant in turning back shot
after shot.

Only Frank D'Agostino
could beat him when he
hammered a rebound high
under the cross-bar, and Ray
Johnson Plumbing hung on

‘for their 2-1 victory.

Lynnwood Nordic,
meanwhile, slipped into a
first-place tie in the stan-
dings when they were held to
a 4-4 draw by Park Royal
Hotel while Norvans moved
up with a 6-0 shut-out over

color edged Pittsburgh
Paints and Labatts nipped
Miliers by identical 3-2
scores, while Olympia Gold
