She was one of hundreds of people who bought burgers and hot dogs to support the new Whistler Health Care Centre’s capital cam- paign. This past weekend’s event that marked the start of construc- tion of the Whistler Village Centre. Whistler Village Centre is a $40 million development that includes retail, recreation and condominium elements. It’s being developed by West Van’s Larco Investments. Larco celebrated getting approval of their development and building permits by announcing a pledge of $25,000 to the Health Care Centre. It was the Larco company which also undertook the costs for musi- cians, food and soft drinks for the. barbecue that was organized by the Whistler Lions, Others at the party included the Mayor of Whistler, Ted Nebbliag, the President of the Whistler Lions, David DeKraker, Lorne Hildebrand and Debbie O'Mara of Whistler Health Care . and project manager Gary ’. Murray. Nancy, the former Olympic ski champion, who can proudly boast that she has now bro- ker 100 on the golf course, is the co-chair of the campaign along with developer, West Van.’s Jolin Evans... The Miller in that title is West Van’s Dean of PR, Dean Miller while the Leonard is John Leenard of North Van who was very much behind the very successful NABS gala evening al the North Shore Film Studios last Saturday night. Pauline now plans to work as an indepen- dent PR consultant from her new home office in downtown Vancouver... Someone else who’s making a major change in his life is jovial Jef€ Snowball. Jeff and his charm- ing wife, Mary Snowball, have been the founders, managers and sparkplugs, behind the Vancouver Media Club for the past 12 years. Personally, ! can’t believe that these two high-level individuals have had the club operating that long. How time flies! Last Friday evening there was a giant farewell and thank you party for the Snowball’s with all the original and current members attending. It was a wonderful tribute to these two people who are going to be leaving their home on the Capilano River to retire to live a life of ease and relaxation on Gabriola Island at the end of the month. I want to wish both Mary and Jeff Snowball the very best! They’re really good people ...
