Woman stabbed A 35-YEAR-OLD pregnant woman was stabbed several times as she entered her home on Wednesday night at 538 West 23rd Street in North Vancouver. The victim and her six-month-old fetus were in stable condition with non-tife-threatening injuries to press time on Thursday, according to North Vancouver RCMP Sgt. Randy Bennett. “At this point in time, it is net believed ta be a ran- dom, unprovoked attack,” said Bennett. “It is believed she was targeted for the assault.” The assailant is described as a male, 6° to @1" (1.8 m), 200 to 220 pounds (90 to 99 kg). He appeared to have a dark complexion and dark eyes. A preliminary report indicated the assailant was wearing a nayy blue, zippered bomber-style jacket. He was last seen running out of the victim's front door on to 23rd Street. | i Bennett said the victim was stabbed in various places and required surgery at Lions Gate Hospital. !. The future of some of the court facilities in the Lower Mainland is being considered by the Ministry of the Attorney Generai. Moving West Vancouver's court business from 13th and Marine into the Narth Vancouver facility would cost West Vancouver taxpayers in additional police time, Sager explained. These additional costs could range from $300,000 to $500,000 a year, Sager said at a March 2 coun- cil meeting with ratepayer groups. West Vancouver is continuing to tobby to retain the court.
