BRIEFS WV School Board seeks Injunction THE WEST Vancouver District 45 School Board (WVSB) has postponed until Monday its efforts to seek a B.C. Supreme Court injunction that would prohibit a group of parents from enrolling their children into kindergarten in the district. Lawyers for the WVSB made an application Wednesday for the court injunction, which names eight parents who want to enrol their children into kindergarten this month. But because the children’s fifth birthdays fall after Oct. 31, they are prohibited from attending kindergarten until either Jaauary or the following September, according to dual-entry leg- islation contained in the B.C. School Act. The parents of the four children have agreed not to bring their children to kindergarten before the application for the court in- junction is heard. WVSB superintendent of schools Doug Player said Thursday that he did not want to put the children in the middle of the dispute and determined that a court injunction would be the best way to resolve the issue. Kim Stephens, one of the parents mamed in the application for the court injunction, said the parents are sot ‘intimidated’ by the WVSB’s attempts to get a court injunction. “If our lawyer says ‘I'm confident we can win on Monday’ then we say ‘go for it’ ’*, said Stephens.
