“RECYCLING IS fast becoming a growth industry i in
the Lower Mainland.

Today nearly every municipality in Greater Van-
couver. provides depots or curbside collection of
tecyclables: for its householders’ convenience,
dustries, too, are beginning to realize the. value. of
recycling . their waste - rather than paying for its
“disposal.

By ° promoting and encouraging recycling

local_recyclers. who, through their actions, have made
a significant contribution to the growth of recycling.

Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) hopes -
to reduce .garbage volumes as well as conserve .
resources and energy. Annually, the GYRD recognizes _

their favorite recyclers for an award of recognition. -

Nominations will be accepted until May .20 for in-
dividuals, industries or community organizations who

have helped to further recycling through example,‘

education, implementation of programs or activities
or through lobbying for legislative changes. °
Nominations should be submitted in a letter to:
Recycling Awards, Greater’ Vancouver Regional
District, 4330 Kingsway, Burnaby, B.C. VSH 4G8,
Submitters should include background information
about ‘their nominee (an individual, industry or com-
munity organization), explain why. they. feel. this

nominee should be recognized and include a contact -
“phone number. The submitter’s name, address and.
‘telephone number shouk ‘also be included.
