RESIDENTS of a North Van-
couver District neighborhood will
be guinea pigs for a garbage col-
lection experiment.

Toter Container Systems has of-
fered to supply, free of charge for
One month, any district
neighborhood with 350 garbage
containers that would effectively
do away with garbage bags.

The Aldergrove company has
also offered to lend to district gar-
bage collection crews a hydraulic
hoist to lift the refuse-filled con-
tainers.

The company says the system
would save homeowners the trou-
ble of carting garbage to the curb
in hard-to-manage bags.

The containers, capable of
holding more than 200 pounds of
garbage, can be kept close to the
home or garage and then wheeled
to the curb every week where they
would be picked up by municipal
collection crews.
