The only solution to traffic congestion is for more people to start taking the bus, North Vancouver District Mayor Don Bell told a group of Lynn Valley residents Thursday night. Bell made the comment to almost 100 people who had gathered to discuss the Lynn Valley plan at Argyle secondary school, in response to concerns about increased traffic caused by a growth in population. At the meeting attended by District council, the residents voiced concerns ranging from controlling vandalism to the lack of bicycle paths in Lynn Valley. But no unified objections to main clements the plan were raised. The expected objections to the proposed Braemer Road extension did not arise, but many residents were upset about other clements of the highway system in Lynn Valley. Lynn Valley Plan: Travel by bus “Access to the Valley is getting exceedingly difficult at night,” said resident John Thomas who commented that the main thoroughfares in the area tend to “narrow into cowtrails.” “You (will) have high density housing at the top (of Lynn Valley) and the shopping centre in the middle and you have to pull it (the traffic) all the way through,”” said another resident. Other residents also complained about the traffic congestion, both current and future. “The only way we are going to control the traffic is to control population,’ resident Steve Atkinson commented. In response to. these complaints and talking of traffic Gie-ups throughout the lower mainland, Mayor Bell said the only solution was for people to start taking public transit. “We're trying to improve Have you been to Bay Moorings yet?
