1 wish to lodge with you a
‘formal complaint regarding
‘a recent situation which
occurred with my young
' daughter ‘Queensbury
Elementary School.

MacDowell (Speckulati-

ons, May 6) in trying to

make the point that children

should have the same right:

to misinformation as adults
(in. the interest of their
developing ‘critical miin-

dédness):teaches better than
e gives‘us all an _-

own critical mindedness, as

we consider his argument.

MacDowell refers to a

“typically biased child
psychologist”, ‘in the course
of his exposition. Now

there’s a piece of com-
munication that could stand
a little critical examination.
What, we may ask, is the
typical biased child
psychologists as a group
display?

It is my impression that a
whole spectrum of points of
view are typical of ‘that
particular professional
group. However, Mac-
Dowell tells us there is a
typical bias. What evidence
does MacDowell have that
such a universal bias exists,
or, could it be that the bias
lies not in the objects of
MacDowell’s scorn, but
creeps around in the
recesses of MacDowell’s
own un-self-critical mind?
