Monday  night’s regular

‘school board meeting.

During last year’s three-
month . appeal hearing,
spread .over 21 sessions, it
was alleged that Raison used
dull teaching methods and .

. indulged, ‘on occasions, in

such unorthodox behavior as
shaving and gatgling in the
classroom.

Throughout the hearing
Raison was represented. by
legal counsel reportedly paid
for by the B.C. Teachers’
Federation.

The three-man review
board finally upheld Raison's
dismissal by a 2-1 vote, with
chairman Bill Lucas (a
former North Vancouver
schools superintendent) and
Sooke school board member
Brian Killip in favor, and
teacher John Ward oppos-
ing.

A teacher for 26 years,,
Raison spent 13 years in the
West Van school system,
including a period of remed-
ial teaching at West Bay
elementary school during the
1960s. He had taught at
WVSS since 1973.
