B.C. scores double bronze Robert Gaister News Reporter robert@nsnews.com BRITISH Columbia teams entering the Canadian Ringette nationals knew they were in tough against the traditional powerhouses of Catario and Alberta. But the teams, representing three dif- ferent divisions, held their own though the vaunted competition bear them to the silver and gold medals in every divi- sion. AJana Gray and Amy Root both came up through the North Shore Winter Club system before moving on to Northwest Van Ringette Association where they cur- rently play. Their 19-23 year-old division squad finished the round-robin partion of the naticaal tournament with a 5-f record. However, thev succumbed to the Alberta team in the semi-finals by a score of 7-3, Meanwhile the provincial junior divi- sion tcam completed the round robin portion of the tournament with a 6-2 record. However, they too had to face one of the favorites in the semi-final game. Jenn Tait of the Northwest Van Ringette Association contributed to the team’s efforts, bur it wasn’t enough as Ontario came out on top with a 3-4 score. With Ontario and Alberta sharing the gold medals in all four divisions, B.C.’s double bronze medai performance never- theless represents the first time in the tournament’s 20-year history thar Canada’s most westerly province has won more than one medal.
