A UNIQUE display of traditional pottery and native Indian art is be- ing shown at North Vancouver's Queensdale Gallery. Artists Robert Shiozaki and Bradley Hunt have blended cre- ative and technical skills to create a rarely seen combination, says gallery manager Muriel Olson. “Bob (Shiozaki) throws the pot and he makes unique designs for the work,’’ Olson explains. ‘Bradley (Hunt) carves on it — he carves seal, killer whales and all the legendary figures from Van gallery Native art.” The work, described by Olson as ‘ta new form of art,’’ is done with care and precision. After Shiozaki forms the clay into the required shape, Hunt must quickly carve his figures before the pottery drys. “After that, it's baked and then glazed," says Olson. Hunt is a Kwakiutil-Heiltsuk Indian and Shiozaki is a Japanese Canadian, Their work may be seen at the gallery until Oct. 26. For more information call the gallery at 986-3222. COMING!
