EVERY garden has a boundary,
and for many this is established
with a fence.

Author Linda Joan Smith begins her
latest book there and works her way in.

She offers inspiration and descriptions of

many alternatives to ordinary gates and
entranceways.: Illustrated with beautiful
‘colour photographs, the opening chap-
ter on gates sets the tone for the book.
| The: book is divided into four parts:
tlic Garden’s Boundaries, covering gates,
fences and walls; the Garden Above, with
trellises, arboys and arches; the Garden
Underoot, for paths, decks and patios,
and The Living Garden, taking a look at
“hedges, espalier, topiary and more.

covers a lot of ground. An abundance of
