10 — Sunday, July 12, 1998 - North Shore News north shore news Ladies take a swing at breast cancer SEYMOUR Golf and Country Club was the site this week of the 6th Annual Ladies’ Charity Invitational golf tournament. All for a good cause, these ladies hit the links in the name of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) and their fight against breast cancer. Last year, the tournament raised over $12,000 which was donated to the Lions Gate Hospital Intensive Care Unit. And if this year’s turnout is anything to go by, the CCS will be very pleased. Junior club members volunteered to act as caddies for the group who enjoyed perfect weather for all 18 holes. We couldn't wait to hear who won the tournament, but the real winners here are the breast cancer survivors who, thanks to these “swinging” ladies, have a good fighting chance at beating the odds.
