Shane Koscielniak North Vancouver lunacy Dear Editor: I wonder what is going on at othe Queens = Avenue menagerie. They have closed the road through Lynn Valley park. It has been closed — since November. There are a number of signs on the gate and one says thar the gate will be closed ar 6 p.m., bur it is never opened. Today I learned the reason for having the park out of ser- vice, and it’s hard for me to understand. Why should owe — be deprived of the full use of this park? We paid for it. Well ... would you believe the reason given for this action is the road was closed in order to stop people — from dumping unwanted articles? What brilliant thinking. This could be the answer to ~ the whiners of Garden Drive. Just dump a couple of old TVs and council will close the road. OF course, no one asked me about this problem. T could solve the problem + for them at no cost to the already weary taxpayer. Is it any wonder when it costs a bundle to get rid of any unwanted items, that with the high fees charged at the trans- fer station and the environ- ment surcharges, that people ‘are about to take the easy way out. One aip to the transfer sta- uion is enough for any over- charged citizen ‘to start look- ing for the closest park. In more advanced munici- * palities the citizens are allowed to pur out as much as needed on wvo days of each year, on their regular garbage day. In that way, the old fridge or TV © can be disposed of. This is too much for our council: who have their hands Out everywhere there is a chance for an extra dollar. This whole attitude is frus- trating, maddening and totally unreasonable. By the way, my cynical nature has me wondering if there is a connection between the generous pay raise the councillors voted themselves, and the motion for the legaliz- ing of hemp and its byprod- ucts. Just asking ... Ross Garner North Vancouver District B CORRECTION. NOTICE . Please be advised that in the Sun. Feb. 22 issue of the North Shore News tliere was an error on page 2.
