On the verge of a promising big league racing carcer, the West Vancouver 19-year-old gets his second start in a KOOL/TOYOTA Atlantic race this weekend dunng the Molson Indy Vancouver. “It's really exciting to be per- forming in front of so many fans and fnends that have been supporting us since the very beginning,” David said of the hometown race. “I hope we can do them proud out on the track this weekend.” Hard work and dedication by both David and his family have no doubt laid the foundanon for these hometown heroics, but the afore- mentioned fate has plaved a major role, Jake last month st the Toronto airport. David and his father Don had driven trom Warkins , New York to catch a tight back home. Along with their carry on luggage was the trophy David had just won in his first-ever Formula Ford 2000 podium finish. “David was varrving the trophy when we ran into the Funire Shop promotions guy we had previously sat down with to discuss sponsorship for David's Adiantic ride,” said Don of the chance meeting. “Because he wasn’t in his suit and tie, David asked him who he was when he approached us.” Burt with the hardware close at hand, the Future Shop guy couldn’ help but be impressed.
