Jacob said commuters des-
perate to find a shortcut to the
over-congested bridge have
had a disruptive influence on
the natives’ day-to-day lives.

“We've had problems get-
ting our people in and out of
the reserve,” he added.

North Vancouver District
traffic manager Norm Nikkel
wasn't aware of the blockade,
but said it is outside of the dis-
trict’s realm of influence: “it's
reserve land; they (natives) ,.
regulate it. It’s their road.”
