PROPOSED DUPLEX City reverses zoning decision, «**: NORTH VANCOUVER City Council will have to foot a $500 bill for a second public hearing, after recently reversing a previous zoning decision. The request for the rezoning of 314 East 11th St. to accommodate a duplex was rejected Oct. 3, but new information presented to council members caused them to reconsider their decision. Original applicant Josef Miricka said he was ‘‘quite shocked’’ at council’s rejection of his request. It would have been the first time the city has rejected an application for duplex zoning, he said. Resistance to the zoning arose over the imminent sale of the land to North Vancouver residents Mr. and Mrs. Jozef Kovar and Mr. and Mrs. Julius Iring. Ald. Ald. John Braithwaite said he thought residents expressed ‘‘some displeasure’? over the design of the plans during the first public hearing. But Kovar said his design had taken into consideration the design of the surrounding neighborhood. “It’s far better than some of the duplexes I have seen here,’’ he said. MERCHANT CATERING CO.
