cruise lines offer a whole range of
destinations and packages that will
suit just about anybody.

Leaving Montreal, the cruise
ship travels to Quebec City and up
the Saguenay River. From there,

popular, she says. A trip letting
visitors fly to the Caribbean for a
weck's land vacation before setting
out for a week cruise is ‘‘quite a
good seller,"* Ashmore adds,

Travellers interested in booking
a cruise should remember that the
time of year they are travelling will

dictate their available destination
choices.

In summer, the main destination
is Alaska. Few people want to go
on a cruise to the Caribbean in the
summer, it is just far too hot there,
Ashmore says.

“‘They’re going to the Orient
more — Japan, and some (lines) to
China,” she adds. ‘‘Some of them
(cruises) come right down to

Singapore or even Malaysia.””

Vacationers yearning to cruise to
the South Pacific will discover
there are only a small number of
cruises there a year — about two
ships twice a year.

Spaces are filling fast, says
Ashmore, so people should book
as soon as they can. ‘‘it just de-
pends on what they want. It’s a
question of availability."
