NV man jailed for abduction LiMOTHY CHUE TANG was handed six aad nine month jail terms Friday ufter the 34-year-old North Vancouver man appeared in provincial court for sentencing on seven criminal charges stem- ming from possession of a forged passport and abduction. Tang, the son of wealthy Hong Kong landowners, pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing passports obtained under false pretences laid aguinst him in connection with a July 14 incident in Edmonton, Alberta in which he cluimed a famil- passport and an expensive Rolex watch had been stolen in a washroom. In addition to sentencing Tang to a six-month jail term on the false pretence chiirges, Judge J.B. Paradis sentenced him to addi- tional concurrent five and nine-month jail terms and two years probation after ;the North Vancouver man was found guilty of assaulting his wife, threatening her with serious injury, possessing restricted weapons (four handguns), and abducting his children. The assault charges were laid against Tang following a May 13 incident in which he punched his wife, threatened to chop off her arms and legs, shoot her and burn down the house. Tang was charged with abduction in connection with a July 19 incident in which he took his three children, aged four, six and eight, from;a home on Montruyal Boulevard in contravention of custody orders. In addition to all jail terms, which will be served concurrently, Tang had his handguns confiscated and was ordered to stay out of the City of North Vancouver and (o have no contact with his wife. Two charged with hold-up TWO VANCOUVER men have been ordered’ to stand trial on seven criminal charges laid against them in connection with an Oct. 26 hold-up at c Lynn Valley Pharmasave Drug Store. Thomas Merle Semkiw, 30, and Zsigmond Peter Kiraly, 28, are jointly charged with three counts of robbery, one count of occupy- ing a vehicle known to be carrying a restricted weapon, one count of using a firearm while committing an indictable offence, one count of possession of a stolen .38 calibre revolver and one count of possessing a restricted weapon without a valid permit. The charges were laid against the two in connection with the Oct. 26 incident in which a quantity of drugs and money was allegedly stolen from the drug store. _ Charges against Burnaby's Catherine Diane Fraser, 27, that were Inid against her in connection with the same incident were dismissed when the three appeared in North Vancouver provincial court recently.
