BLISTERING BACKHAND slam of 19-year-old Darrell Bardua is one of the (ennis
weapons highlighting the fourth annual North Vancouver Recreation Commission tennis
championship. Bardua won the tournament's Men’s B Division tast year. Just under 300
competitors are involved in this year's championships which are being played at various
North Shore tennis courts to June 26.

lessons for all ages this
summer.

Located at 600 West
Queens Road, the centre
boasts first rate courts and
instruction. There are three
fully equipped, courts and
outdoor lighting extends
playing time to 10:30 p.m.
on weekdays.

to every age group. Morning
and evening classes are
scheduled for adults and
teens while after school
classes are designed for
school age children.

Parents have an opportu-
nity to learn and play tennis
alongside their children in
Parent & Child Tennis
Weeks commencing July 8.

Seniors can participate in
the Net Set on Friday morn-
ings. Instruction and playing
time will be combined to
provide an enjoyable social
opportunity.

advanced players looking to
refine their tennis skills this
season can also arrange
private and = semi-private
lessons with one of the cen-
tre’s pros.

The courts are open daily
for public use and a ‘“‘first
come - first served’’ policy is
in effect. To avoid the wait
during busy times, booking a
tennis court in advance is an
option for a nominal $3 fee.
