dentists has been fined
$50,000 and faces a tax bill
of more than $150,000 after

being found: guilty of two, ; .

counts of tax evasion in
provincial court here.

Dr. George Sakata was
convicted Wednesday by
Judge J. D. Layton on two
counts of. evading ‘income
tax by failing to file personal

returns for 1979 and 1980.
He was acquitted on a third
count..relating to the 1981
tax year. a

,-Judge .Layton found
Sakata had evaded
$46,895.94 in taxes and fined
him $25,000 on each count.

According to. Revenue
Canada, Sakata’ is still
responsible for taxes, inter-
est and civil penalties totall-
ing $155,823.32.
