By Thursday the situation had changed, thanks to a sur- prise donation. **I got a telephone call from the Credit Union that a rather large donation had been made by some fellows who get together occasionally for a drink,’’ Miller told The News. By large, she was expecting something in the range of $500. The donation was, in fact, $2,200, an amount that Miller says will ensure the Bureau will be okay finan- cially this year. The money will allow the Bureau to help pay for the estimated $18,000 worth of grocery certificates that have been donated to needy families. Now, she says, Bureau volunteers are at work put- ting together ‘‘the odd box of groceries’’ for donation through the Toyshop operation.
