Sames scholarship awarted

MARK Radford, 17, of Sentinel
secondary school in West
Vancouver, has been awarded
the Elmer Barnes Scholarship
for 2000.

The $1,000 award is given by the
West Vancouver Municipal Emplovees’
Association cach vear in honour of
retired municipal manager (and former

member/president) Elmer Barnes. It is
open to the sons and daughters ef associ-
ation members as well as to association
members in their senior high school
graduating vear.

In addition to his outstanding
scholastic achievements, Radford has
been involved with the Scouts Venturer
Company since 1996, has been a mem-
ber of his school's football, basketball,

rugby and mountain biking teams, and
worked as a youth soccer referee since
1996.

Radford has also worked as an emer-
geney services volunteer since 1996 and
served as a DARE role model this year.
Radford is enrotled at UBC and plans to
pursue a career in the aerospace industry.

His mother, Clair, is a secretary at
Sentinel secondary school.
