SUMMER was Late arriving this vear, but a warm and perfect ~

September's evening two weeks ago provided a backdrop for the
13th annual awards night of the North Shore Gardens Contest
Society. A large crowd was on hand to listed to guest speaker Dr,
Shirley Nicolson’s talk on garden trees and view with interes: the
slides of the gardens, patios, residential complexes and commer
cial businesses that had entered this vear’s competition. Every
July the society sponsors a tour of the outstanding gardens on
the North Shore if vou would like to see some of then: in per-
