Up until now, pet owners in
B.C. whe needed to take their
animals fo a veterinarian, but
could nor leave the house. were
out of luck.

West Vancouver veterinarian,
Dr. Bob Skinner, whe runs
Mainland Mabile Veterinary Ser-
vices, therefore saw a need for a
vet who makes house calls.

For the past seven months, he
and wife Deborah Toren have
been building the Vetmobile, a
mobile veterinary service that
makes house calls.

“We've been thinking about
doing it for a number of years.
It’s (Vetmobile) the only one in
B.C.,” said Skinner. “It's mainly
a house call type of service. We
think there are a number of peo-
ple out there who have difficulty
in getting their pets out of the
house.""

He added that some pet owners
have big animals and that it would
be a lot easier to treat the animal
at home than it would be to take
it to a veterinarian.

Skinner said he can do most of
the things in the Vetmobile that he
would normally do out of his
clinic, such as minor surgery,
diagnostic and denial work and
