DOUG FOOT
Comptroller .

OUG WAS born in Kelowna and
moved to North Vancouver when
he was a high school student.

He graduated from Argyle
_scheol and enrolled at Capilano
College. Doug completed a com-
merce degree al Simon Fraser Uni-
versity in 1980, and went on to
work for Thorne Riddell, where he
articled to become a Chartered

Accountant.

In 1982, he worked for a Van-
 eouver furniture company which
owned a hote] chain, and in
Janucry 1987, Doug joined the
Nerth Shore News as the company

_This year; Doug was appointed
to the News’ board of directors
headed by. publisher Peter-Speck.

In his. spare time, Doug likes to

CHRIS JOHNSON
Operations Manager

CHRIS MOVED to the North
Shore from England in 1967.

A loca! resident since then, Chris
attended Carson Graham high
school, graduating in the visual
arts program. He also attended the
Vancouver Vocational Institute for
additional print-related courses.

up artist with the News in 1978,
Chris was promoted to director of
the News’ production department
in 1982.

In 1987, he was further pro-
moted to his current position of
operations manager.

Chris plans to marry this year,
and he has two daughters.

TIM FRANCES
Marketing Manager

A RESIDENT of the North Shore
for many years, Tim attended the
Applied Arts course at Capilano
College from 1972 to '74. He join-
ed the News in 1977 with a
background in fine and commer-
cial art.

Beginning as a paste-up artist,
Tim was promoted to. production
manager, then to creative director
and finally to advertising director

before taking leave in 1984 to pur- .

sue his career in painting and ‘to
fulfill his dream of designing and
building his own home ‘outside the
city.

In 1987, Tim rejoined’ the’ News
on a part-time basis as marketing:

director. Today he continues to be
a member of the News team,
commuting every second week
from his home. in East Barriere
Lake.

LINDA STEWART
Advertising Director

ORIGINALLY FROM Pevil’s
Lake, North Dakota, Lind: has
been a North Shore resident since
1957,

After graduating from Delbrook
senior high school, Linda spent 14
years with the Bay in various posi-
tions.

In 1971 she gave up her job to
have a family, and after six years
as a homemaker, Linda joined the
News as & part-time receptionist in
the display advertising department.
In 1982, she joined the News sales

team and became the Display Adver- ;

tising Manager in 1985.
Linda says she is proud to be part

’ of the News management team.
She bas one son, and this year, -
Linda celebrates her 25th wedding .

BARRETT FISHER
Managing Editor

BORN AND raised on the North
Shore, Barrett ted from the
University of British Columbia
with 2 Bachelor of Arts degree in
English, and from Vancouver
Community College with a
Diploma in Journalism.

She joined the News in 1983 as a
features reporter, and has since
worked 2s features editor, news
reporter and news editor, until her
promotion to managing editor in
August 1986.

Barrett won a MacMillan
Bloedel journalism award in 1986
‘for a series of articles she wrote on
the political controversy surroun-
ding the Park and Tilford —
Gardens. She was honored in 1987
for her achievements as a business
woman by the North Shore
Business and Professional
Women’s Club.
