and textile arts program has meld-
ed high-tcch  ‘computer-assisted
learning” with ancient technology.

Capilano is the only college in
B.C. offering an intensive textile
arts program that explores the
possibilitie, of computer-assisted
design in textiles.

Weaving studenis work in the
computer lub, using computers to
design complex weaves and pro-
duce surface designs for textiles
and to learn about the structure of
weaving.

The clay and textile arts pro-
gram is a lwo-year program incor-
porating a foundation year, and a
year in which students specialize in
either clay or textiles. Starting this
September, courses will be offered
in eight-week blocks, allowing
full-time students more concen-
trated studio time and also allow-
ing people who are not enrolled in
the diploma program to take
courses on a part-time basis.

Interviews for admission to the
program will be held on Aug. 24,
25 and 26 and classes start on Sept.
