Gi mailbox A gentle Dear Editor: 1 was pleased to read the feature article on John Gray in your newspaper on Friday, April 27. As your photo cap- tion pointed out, he gave an entertaining reading at Lynn Valley Library, during a pro- gramme there organized by the North Vancouver District — not City — Library. It is possible that your reporter, like many other knuckle rap North Shore residents, did not realize that North Van- couver supports, through its dual tax base, two library systems. The District Library serves 65,775 people from its headquarters on East 27th Street, and operates three branches, one at Lynn Valley, another in Edgemont Village and a third in the Seycove area. Last week’s reading by one of Canada’s leading enter- lainers was just one of many successful programmes ar- ranged regularly for adults and children in our libraries. Events in May will include a ‘‘Baby Week’’ and demonstration on T’ai Chi exercise on Monday evening, May 14, to celebrate Par- ticipaction week on the North Shore. Enid Dearing Chief Librarian North Vaa District Library Call it Lemmings Gate? Dear Editor: ° The Chairman of the Lions Gate Hospital Board feels that the majority of North Shore residents reject the Pro Life position on abortion. His reason?Because Pro Life candidates are defeated in hospital board elections. But in Victoria, Pro Life trustees were, glected to every position available on both hospital board for three years in a row, and pro-abortion incumbents were soundly defeated. For some unex- plained reason, this was not considered to indicate that the majority of Victoria residents rejected easy abor- tions, and abortion- approving doctors stated that they did not recognize the board as having any legitimacy. Similarly the voters of Sur- rey have found that it is useless to elect pro-life trustees. A hospital board is allowed only one policy on abortions — any attempt to stem the current Gadarene rush to self-genocide results in the emasculation9 or dissolution of the board. Whoever inherits Canada from us will wonder at our blindness and stupidity. We are already falling 20% short of vero population growth, so we are dying out fairly rapidly, yet we encourage the INCLUDES CUT, SHAMP 13 am = O & FINISHING.
