from Italy, Paris and New
York, and bought through

Showmart is ‘minimal,
“about one per cent,’’ she
said, ‘‘at the moment,”’
Leslie added.

The reason the store can
sell designer clothes at a dis-
count price is because they
buy ‘‘end-of-the-line or over-
run”’ fashions. If, for exam-
ple, a manufacturer produces
a line in excess of the ex-
pected demand, Designer
Save can pick up the remain-
ing garments at a discount.

Beadle says the discount
passed onto the customer is
between 20 and 75 per cent
off any other store’s regular
price. .
