CHRISTMAS AND YEAR ROUND dows, an The 507-member Auxiliary and 80-member Candy- stripers volunteer their time and kindness to provide 24 services to patients and visitors, and to raise funds for medical equipment. Auxiliary members not on- ly receive no money for their work, they receive hittle recognition, says President Toni Harvey. “*These women work for years and years without even a pat on the back. They could be going out to luncheons or bridge parties, but instead they’re here, helping,’ Harvey said. On the lapel of the identifying pink smock, Harvey wears a small gold pin which reads ‘‘We Care’’. In monetary terms, the Auxiliary’s ‘“‘care’’ has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars during its 62-year history. Last year it con- tnbuted $238,000 towards the purchase of a CAT scan- ner. Of the $108,755 current- ly in the kitty, the Awuliary has pledged $20,000 towards a new ultra sound machine for cardiac use, and plans to purchase an infant resuscitator and ai heated table for premature babies.
