THE DISTRICT of
North Vancouver is fac-
ing another challenge
over its operation of the

Premier Street landfill
site.

Harvey Lawson of Bir-
chlynn Place has appealed
the amended pollution con-
trol permit granted the
district August 3.

In his letter to the Environ-
mental Appeal Board,
Lawson claims differences
between the district’s applica-
tion as advertised and what
was finally approved ‘should
render the amended permit
invalid.

Lawson says legal adver-
tisements published in the
North Shore News indicated
the district was applying for
waste to be discharged at a
rate of 450 imperial tons a
day while the permit that was

approved raises the rate to
450 metric tonnes, about 10

Lawson also says that

while the appeal period for

the permit expired 30 days
after Feb. 3 (or March 5), the
application was altered some
time after March 21 without
notice of an extension of the

appeal period.

Lawson has been notified
that his appeal has been
received and that we will be
further advised on the issue.
